Australia – Number of non profit organizations

There are approximately 700,000 non profit organisations in Australia, most of which are small and entirely dependent on the voluntary commitment of members, icluding: hobby clubs, local sporting clubs, advocacy groups, public hospitals, medical research oragizations, special schools, philantropyc foundations, community child care centres,environmental conservation organizations, charities that provide assitance to the needy and disadvantaged.
Approximately 380,000 non profit organisations are incorporated in some form or another, meaning that they have a legal identity independent from their members.
